Lightness and a sense of ease were top of mind for Alberta Ferretti, who conjured a romantic and pretty collection for spring 2025, filled with ethereal volumes and airy fabrications exalting the movement of the body.
“These are real summer clothes,” she said backstage about her choice of working with fabrics ranging from lightweight cotton poplin to satin, in addition to her signature chiffon.
The designer deployed these to target “the necessities of women at different time of the day,” as she continued her exploration of an everyday wardrobe and urban-chic clothes to flank her popular occasionwear. Only this time the progression from day to night was particularly charming and smoother than previous efforts, thanks to a cohesiveness in the handmade techniques, tone-on-tone adornments and the consistent palette of whites, grays, taupe and black with occasional zingy pops of tangerine and mauve.
Maintaining a soft, feminine hand throughout the lineup, Ferretti elevated simple silhouettes by folding pleats or recurring to pin tucking techniques, playing with transparencies as well as including macramé lace details and satin inserts shaped after leaves and floral motifs. Cue the white looks that opened the show on a high note, led by a lively pleated minidress with satin flower embellishments.
